Loneliness Awareness Week 2026: How Local Florists Are Using Flowers to Support Connection and Community

To mark Loneliness Awareness Week 2026, Direct2florist is partnering with Marmalade Trust.

At Direct2florist, we see every day how flowers spread love, kindness, and support through our network of local florists. A surprise delivery or a thoughtful bunch of flowers has a unique power to brighten a dark day, bridge physical distances, and remind someone that they are valued.

This year, we are channelling that power into a truly special collaboration to tackle social isolation.

Direct2florist Partners with The Marmalade Trust for Loneliness Awareness Week 2026

We are thrilled to announce that Direct2florist is officially supporting The Marmalade Trust to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Loneliness Awareness Week, taking place from 15–21 June 2026.

To mark this incredible milestone, we are encouraging our member florists across the country to participate in a heartwarming community initiative by leaving small, beautiful posies in local towns and villages for people to find. If you come across one, it's yours to keep—or, even better, you can pass it on to someone in your community who might really need a smile.

The Return of #ConnectionBouquets

This isn't our first time spreading joy on the streets, but we want 2026 to be our biggest year yet. Back in 2021, our incredible network shared more than 900 Connection Bouquets.

Keep your eyes peeled for #ConnectionBouquets from local florists, and follow other beautiful moments of connection being shared during #LonelinessAwarenessWeek on Instagram and Facebook. You can also find local events near you by checking out the official Loneliness Awareness Week Connection Map to see what's happening in your area.

Meet The Marmalade Trust: Chipping Away at the Stigma of Loneliness

To understand why this campaign matters so much, it helps to look at the incredible organisation behind it.

Founded in 2013 by healthcare professional Amy Perrin, Marmalade Trust is an award-winning charity dedicated to helping people of all ages feel more connected and less alone. Inspired by the comfort, warmth, and companionship of Paddington Bear, the charity was built on the core values of kindness, connection, and community.

Marmalade Trust doesn't just talk about isolation; they take practical action that helps people feel more connected and supported. They bring people together through vital community initiatives like Christmas Cheer and doorstep visits for the isolated. They also officially launched Loneliness Awareness Week in 2017, growing it into an international campaign that challenges the stigma surrounding loneliness and encourages open, honest conversations. Furthermore, through expert-led webinars, practical digital resources, and specialised work with schools across primary, secondary, and Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) education, they are helping young people understand and manage loneliness.

Their mission is as simple as it is powerful: to remind people that loneliness is a natural human emotion, and nobody should ever feel ashamed of experiencing it.

A United Floral Industry: Coming Together for Change

An initiative this important deserves the backing of the entire floral community. We are absolutely delighted to be joined by the industry's leading bodies—the British Florist Association, The Institute of Flowers Ireland, and The Good Florist Guide—in supporting this wonderful cause and fostering real human connection.

Whether it's a phone call, a coffee, a message, or a surprise bouquet, small acts of connection can make a big difference. This Loneliness Awareness Week, take a moment to reach out and let someone know they're not alone.
