Family-owned Direct2florist was set up in February 2007 with one goal - to put consumers directly in contact with professional florist shops around the world, in the process giving consumers control of the flower sending process.

Founded by florists who ran a number of highly regarded flower shops in the North West of England, the idea for Direct2Florist came up because the shop staff were tired of having to make bouquets that were worth far less than the customer had paid because the likes of Interflora, eflorist and Flowers Direct had taken a huge chunk of money as commission.

Originally called florist2florist, a network of like-minded independent florists was set up, with florists able to send orders to each other for delivery around the UK, in the process ensuring customers received value for money because they were not losing any value from their order in commission.

Unsurprisingly, with the lucky recipients of beautiful flowers receiving bigger, better floral designs, this customer-focused, value-for-money approach, unsurprisingly proved hugely popular. As a result, the business continued to grow, as did demand from value hungry consumers for a website that allowed orders to be placed online, directly with the shop that would be delivering the flowers, with no hidden commission being robbed from orders. Direct2florist was created to meet this demand, with the service growing to now cover 14 countries via 3,500 florists, all working to the Direct2florist philosophy of offering:

  • Unbeatable value where ALL of the flower value of an order goes to the delivering florist, resulting in a bigger, better end product

  • Total customer control, with the consumer having the opportunity to select the shop of their choice to deliver their order, based on real customer reviews, information in each florist’s website entry, including photographs of the shop and the actual work produced by the florist

  • Freedom to florists, allowing them to sell what they want at the price they want, allowing them to use local knowledge of flower availability, ultimately allowing customers to choose a shop based on their individual flair and creativity

  • The opportunity to deal directly with real local florists, at a time and place that suits you, over the Internet

  • A guarantee that the only charge you will ever pay to Direct2florist is a transmission fee, which is a contribution to website operation and promotional costs

In short, by giving customers choice, putting customers ahead of profits for shareholders (that’s the beauty of being a family business) and making flower sending as easy as possible, Direct2Florist is revolutionising flower sending. Star Rating and real reviews

At Direct2Florist, every customer is hugely important to us and to your chosen florist, which is why we introduced our star rating system that ensures the florist will do everything possible to keep your goodwill as they are accountable for every order. Every time an order is sent via direct2florist.co.uk the customer is asked to submit a “star rating” from 1 to 5, which represents your evaluation of the delivery and service. Real customer reviews are also encouraged.

The results are posted in full public view on the florist’s record in the form of a star rating and your comments may be accessed by potential customers, helping future customers choose their florist based on previous customer experiences.

The Direct2Florist difference

Direct2Florist’s way of doing business is very different from all the other “order gathering” services and organisations, where prices are set by the central organisation, without reference to the individual florists, and are applied throughout a country without taking into account individual shop overheads or regional cost fluctuations of flowers. This results in higher prices across the board.

To make matters worse, as little as 60% of the total amount spent by you, the customer, goes to the shop delivering the flowers after a commission is taken out. As we don’t do this, it’s easy to see why Direct2florist ensures customers receive better value for money and a better service, every time.
